A Different Kind of Space
Roots & Rituals was created for the moments when everything feels urgent, even when it isn’t.
When your mind keeps going, your body feels tense, and slowing down doesn’t feel simple.
This space exists as an alternative to approaches that ask you to push, fix, or override what you’re experiencing.
Here, we begin somewhere else.
With understanding.
With safety.
With the body.
About Me
I’m Stephanie Lee Hayes, founder of Roots & Rituals.
For a long time, I lived in cycles of overwhelm and shutdown. From the outside, I looked capable and steady. Inside, things felt tense, pressured, and difficult to fully settle.
I tried to think my way out of it. I learned, reflected, and searched for answers.
But nothing truly shifted until I began to understand my nervous system.
What once felt like something wrong with me started to make sense. My responses weren’t failures. They were patterns my body had learned in order to cope.
That understanding changed how I related to myself.
Instead of pushing forward, I began to listen.
Instead of trying to fix, I started to understand.
Over time, that created space for real change.
How I Work
The work I offer is grounded in that experience, along with ongoing study in nervous system science and body-based approaches.
It is not about doing more.
It is about learning to relate to what’s already happening in a different way.
This looks like:
- working with the body, not just the mind
- moving at a pace your system can sustain
- creating safety before expecting change
Rather than focusing on who you should become, this work supports your capacity to be with yourself in a way that allows change to happen naturally.
Who This Space Is For
This space may resonate if you feel:
- constantly “on” or under pressure
- stuck in overthinking or urgency
- like you should be able to figure things out, but something isn’t shifting
You might already have awareness of your patterns, but still feel caught in them.
This work doesn’t ask you to try harder.
It offers a different way to understand what’s happening, and gently shift your relationship to it.
Why This Work Exists
I created Roots & Rituals because I know how isolating it can feel to not understand why things feel the way they do.
And how frustrating it is when the tools you’re given don’t seem to reach what’s actually happening underneath.
This space is here so you don’t have to navigate that alone.
Not by giving you more to keep up with, but by offering something you can return to.
A Note on My Training
For those who value understanding the background of this work, I’ve included a brief overview below.
Alongside lived experience, this work is supported by ongoing study in nervous system science and somatic, body-based approaches.
If it’s helpful to know, I’ve trained in areas including Root-Cause Therapy, somatic foundations, and neuroscience-based education, and continue to deepen this work over time.
A Slower Way Forward
This is work that values:
- safety over speed
- understanding over urgency
- integration over constant effort
You’re not being pushed forward here.
You’re supported in finding your own way, at your own pace.
